Mission Statement:
The Black Print Collective is committed to empowering low- to moderate-income African Americans in the City of Kent by fostering business development, providing educational opportunities, and advocating for equity and inclusion.
Vision:
Our vision is rooted in a deep desire for a future where collaboration flourishes, enabling the upliftment of low- to moderate-income individuals within the African American community and the strengthening of black-owned businesses in Kent. We envision a society that embraces inclusivity and equity, where the unique needs and concerns of communities of color, particularly African Americans, are recognized and addressed.
Goals/Purpose:
- Strengthen Local Businesses
Support Black entrepreneurs in Kent through mentorship, networking, and resource referrals so they can build sustainable, resilient enterprises.
- Advance Financial and Educational Equity
Offer workshops and learning opportunities that demystify budgeting, grant preparation, credit building, and long-term wealth strategies, helping community members gain practical skills for economic stability.
- Cultivate Community Connections
Host regular listening sessions, cultural events, and collaborative forums that bring residents, local leaders, and partner organizations together to share ideas, identify emerging needs, and co-create solutions.
- Celebrate and Preserve Heritage
Develop programs and events that honor Black history and culture in Kent, raising awareness, fostering pride, and strengthening our shared identity.
- Advocate for Inclusion
Engage with civic institutions to amplify Black voices on City of Kent boards, commissions, and decision-making bodies, ensuring policies reflect our community’s priorities and perspectives.
Our Purpose:
To serve as a unifying force for Kent’s African American community, bringing together neighbors, local leaders, and resources to break down barriers, spark collaboration, and cultivate lasting opportunities. By amplifying voices, sharing knowledge, and building bridges, we exist to ensure every member of our community has the support and connections needed to flourish.
By focusing on these overarching goals, economic empowerment, educational access, community unity, cultural celebration, and inclusive advocacy the Black Print Collective works every day to build a more equitable future for Kent’s African American residents and businesses.
